Performance Highlights (Pipelines)

  • IndianOil’s pipelines network crossed the 10,000 km mark during the year with the commissioning of a record number of pipeline projects, the foremost being the Paradip-Haldia crude oil pipeline and the Panipat-Jalandhar LPG pipeline. In addition, other projects commissioned during the year include the Koyali-Ratlam product pipeline, ATF Pipeline from CPCL (Manali) to Chennai AFS, ATF pipeline to New Bengaluru International Airport and the Panipat-Jalandhar LPG Pipeline.
  • The Pipelines Division registered quantum leaps in its operational performance with the highest ever operational throughput of 59.38 million metric tonnes during the year.

  • During the year, in the wake of increasing incidents of pilferage, patrolling of pipeline right-of-way was reorganised to cover vulnerable stretches on a daily basis besides night patrolling by DGR security personnel.
  • During the year, the highest ever number of 321 tankers were handled at HBCPL, Haldia, surpassing the previous year’s number of 298 tankers.
  • In the wake of an unprecedented threat perception, an industry-level Security Meet was organised in Jamnagar that was attended by members of the oil industry in Koyali, State authorities, IB, Police, Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Kandla Port Trust and Koyali Maritime Board.
  • Slurry type drag reducing agents were introduced for the first time in crude oil and product pipelines for throughput enhancement after rigorous testing and validation at IndianOil’s R&D Centre, Faridabad.
  • IndianOil executed a USD 8,39,000 contract of M/s Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company (GNPOC), Sudan, for development of operation, inspection and maintenance procedure for their 1506-km 28-inch diameter crude oil pipeline. Training was imparted to three batches of GNPOC personnel as well as personnel of Cairn India Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation’s Kochi Refinery.
